PGIM Investments LLC (“PI”), is seeking a Director candidate to be located in Newark, N.J. The Director will support PI Compliance regarding its regulatory, contractual, and compliance requirements associated its activities as a registered investment adviser and manager of mutual funds, closed-end funds, and ETFs. The position also will serve as a senior resource to assist with strategic initiatives designed to support and enhance the compliance programs. PI is an investment manager to the mutual fund complex within Prudential Financial, Inc. with over $250 billion in AUM.
As noted, PI is the manager and/or co-manager to two mutual fund complexes: the PGIM Retail Funds and the Prudential Insurance Funds (collectively “PGIM Funds” or “Funds”). The PGIM Retail Funds include several open-end funds, ETFs, and two closed end funds. The Prudential Insurance Funds consist of open-end funds that serve as underlying investment options for Prudential’s variable annuities business, group insurance business, individual life insurance business, and retirement business. The PGIM Retail Funds and Prudential Insurance Funds are overseen by separate boards of directors/trustees (“Boards”).
As part of its business, PI oversees a large number of affiliated and unaffiliated subadvisers. The PI compliance department is responsible for assessing these subadvisers’ compliance programs as well as the compliance programs of certain key service providers. PI compliance also monitors and reports to the mutual fund Boards on the subadvisers’ ongoing compliance with Fund policies and procedures. PI Compliance also serves a center of excellence for third-party adviser due diligence throughout the Prudential organization.
This position is located in Newark, NJ.
On-going responsibilities for this position will include:
The scope and responsibilities of this role will not be static. As the business needs and compliance objectives change, the responsibilities of the position are expected to evolve to meet the changing regulatory landscape and departmental deliverables. Responsibilities include, among other things:
Oversee testing programs and ongoing compliance and other risk assessments; liase with strategic partners (i.e., risk and internal audit) on assessments related to our advisory and mutual fund businesses;
Serve as point person regarding maintenance and development of adviser policy manuals;
Prepare and review materials for internal governance bodies and fund boards of directors;
Lead and participate in global and U.S. projects, including those related to regulatory changes and changes in the manager’s business;
Supervise responses to regulatory inquiries and ad hoc requests; oversee Adviser’s ADV and NFA filings;
Provide situational compliance support in connection with portfolio oversight, new fund launches, subadviser transitions, fund mergers, or liquidations; and
A successful candidate will have intellectual curiosity, business acumen, and be solutions oriented. The successful candidate also will possess an ownership mindset and is comfortable navigating uncertainty. Other required qualifications include:
Prior compliance experience at a registered investment adviser or mutual fund;
Good working knowledge of Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act;
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to interface with various business unit, legal and compliance contacts;
Excellent written and oral skills and strong attention to detail;
Demonstrates accountability and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines;
Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines;
Experience with data analytics;
Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage several projects at once to meet deadlines;
Prior supervisory experience a plus;
