About the position

PGIM Private Capital (PPC) is the private capital investment arm of PGIM, the global investment management businesses of Prudential Financial Inc. PPC is one of the largest private debt investors in the world with over $90 billion in AUM across more than 1,000 companies globally (as of June 30, 2020).

PPC’s Alternatives Operations Team is responsible for the financial oversight and reporting of over $7.0 billion of institutional investor commitments across five mezzanine funds, one mezzanine energy fund and will be responsible for all operational aspects of the new Direct Lending fund strategy.

The Alternatives Operations Team is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its global, collaborative and dynamic team. This position is in Chicago and will report to the team’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO).


Prepare and review financial statements of private debt funds including collaboration with the funds’ outside administrator

Forecast, analyze and manage liquidity needs

Collaborate with the funds’ tax compliance providers and auditors to ensure that reporting is reliable and accurate, and deadlines are met

Communicate with investment companies, fund managers and investors

Support the investment teams during fundraising and new product exploration, both during the formal marketing period and between funds

Coordinate the quarterly valuation process with the dedicated investment teams

Support staff and team members located in Chicago and Ireland


BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required. A CPA designation would be a plus.

2+ years of accounting, tax or operations experience in financial services

Superior analytical skills, accuracy and careful attention to detail are essential

High-energy person who brings positivity, geniality and optimism to their work

Critical thinking and problem-solving experience required

Proven experience with financial statement preparation and accounting guidelines

Strong presentation, written communication and interpersonal skills with exposure to all levels of management

Minimal travel
