About the position
TITLE: Manager, Financial Reporting (The Prudential Insurance Company of America – Newark, NJ)
DUTIES: Research emerging insurance regulations, business needs, and develop proof of concept for retirement reserve valuation model. Work closely with business partners to translate business needs into detailed model change requirements. Participate in implementing latest regulations, new features, and enhancements in retirement reserve valuation model. Create and maintain thorough model documentations and business requirements. Support the implementation of a fully automated valuation system capable of satisfying growing demands for faster and more complex analysis. Determine and document accounting policy for a variety of business unit strategic initiatives, including capital management projects and new products. Analyze accounting and financial impacts, and identify possible issues. Identify and track legislative developments of various accounting standards and guidelines. Coordinate with relevant internal and external parties in sharing Prudential’s position on new developments with authorities. Produce quarterly summaries of new and pending guidance to Senior Management. Develop and support internal control requirements to ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley)/MAR (Model Audit Rule) and other external accounting policies and standards. Perform Life Captives financial reporting and analysis. Manage oversight and review of financial statements including Statutory Statements of Admitted Assets, Liabilities, Capital and Surplus, Statutory Statements of Operations and Changes in Capital and Surplus, and Statutory Statement of Cash Flows for the Life Captives. Present results and analysis (regarding accounting issues and Life Captives) to Senior Management and outside counterparties. Prepare materials to Senior Management in preparation for quarterly Earnings Calls. Provide supporting documents or info in need for producing the GAAP, Corporate SEC and statutory consolidation report. Check compliance with various accounting standards and internal accounting policy. Consult interpretation and implementation, including current practices, of various accounting standards. EOE.
REQTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field plus six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the position offered or as a Senior Manager, MBA Intern, Manager, Assistant Manager, or a related position. Must have six (6) years of progressively responsible experience with: Analyzing and reporting accounting and financial implications in accordance with GAAP; Analyzing and reporting accounting and financial implications of accounting guidance changes, capital transactions, and new products and services; preparing accounting and financial documentation for internal and external audits; managing the reporting of SOX/MAR controls including documentation; Ledger and financial databases; review financial impact of actuarial and financial modeling methods, investments, and actuarial risks; working with investment principles including duration, investment instruments, hedging attributions and hedging strategy; reviewing and supporting product development; and reviewing and supporting capital management. Must have passed all of the CPA exams
