Position Summary:



PGIM Real Estate is seeking a Vice President, Head of Data Governance reporting to [the Global Head of Innovation]. This is a transformational position that will play a critical role in the evolution and growth of PGIM Real Estate’s business and is directly aligned to the firm’s commitment to proactively and innovatively meet challenges and seize opportunities by effectively leveraging data, analytics, and technology.


The Vice President, Head of Data Governance will be responsible for defining and implementing PGIM Real Estate’s data governance strategy and will be accountable for all aspects of the end-to-end data environment including policy/governance, architecture, engineering and operational efficiency. This individual will create new working groups within the organization to engage, influence, and lead teams who have institutional knowledge and domain expertise, and create a shared vision, roadmap and accountability for addressing all business requirements.


We are a global business with 30+ offices globally. Ideally, this position would be based in Madison, NJ or New York, NY but we are flexible to consider other locations where we have offices as well as a remote working arrangement for the right candidate.



Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Ensure firmwide commitment for data architecture, data governance and data quality. Work with key stakeholders to define our data vision and implement a long-term data management roadmap, with domains, standards, and polices to utilize data assets effectively and efficiently across the firm.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise data quality standards and data dictionaries and be accountable, in liaison with the data owners, for data integrity at each step of the life cycle of data production, aggregation / transformation, controls and reporting.
  • Create a structure, roles and responsibilities, and processes for the management of data quality.
  • Resolve issues raised by domain experts in the business.
    • In liaison with the technology organization, identify the need for new infrastructure/tools to support changes in data flow.
    • Implement measures to improve data quality and increase business efficiency.
    • Create metrics and key performance indicators and deliver reports that track adherence to these metrics and milestones.


  • Liaise with stakeholders across regions and functions regarding their data processes and support efforts to enhance analytics, measurement, issue management, and policy adoption.

    • Create forums and methods to communicate information and ideas to all necessary parties in order to maintain positive momentum

    • Deliver training on tools and processes across the organization, as needed

    • Coordinate across regions and teams to ensure consistency of approach while considering unique needs

  • Oversee the implementation of a new or enhanced document management system and process and establish and maintain governance over documents.

  • Work with consultants and/or data scientists on how to use predictive analytics/AI to inform decision making.



Qualifications

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will bring a structured and organized approach, deep technical skills, and a strategic mindset towards driving an organization’s data journey. They will require the credibility, gravitas, and influencing skills needed to effectively communicate the opportunities for data and analytics across the business while bringing the necessary technical depth to ensure that those opportunities are realized.

  • Bachelors’ degree required; Masters’ degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years total work experience with at least 5 years’ experience in a data governance leadership role within financial services; experience within institutional asset management and/or real estate a plus.

  • Overall understanding of data management, data governance, business and technical data architecture required.

  • Experience managing multi-faceted change programs with an agile approach.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence business stakeholders.

  • Prior experience using data governance technology tools.

  • Professional self-starter. Comfort with ambiguity, able to effectively take the conceptual to the pragmatic.

  • Excellent written; presentation writing and verbal communication skills. Comfort in chairing meetings with multiple groups.

  • Detail oriented; Analytical with problem solving abilities.
