U.S. Businesses, Planning & Analysis Team:

This team is primarily responsible for the forecasting, planning, and analysis of Prudential’s U.S. businesses. The group has responsibility for consolidating the monthly and quarterly financial results of the U.S. business: PGIM, Retirement, Group Insurance, Annuities, Individual Life and Assurance IQ. This includes partnering with the finance teams within those businesses, key business contacts, and areas across Corporate reporting. The team develops presentations for senior management of the U.S. businesses, and has significant interaction with the U.S. Businesses CFO, VPs of Finance for each U.S. business, and other senior leaders within Finance. In addition to the forecasting process, the team also prepares actual quarterly analysis for the US. COO, and partners with Investor Relations on potential Q&A for the earnings call, stays on top of current topics relating to our competitors (including reading analyst reports and other industry reports, and listening to competitor earnings calls), and dives into deeper analysis into certain topics that are important to Senior Management.

Description:

The Planning & Analysis Specialist position supports the U.S. Businesses in multiple capacities. The position is primarily responsible for providing analysis on business and AOI drivers for the Monthly Financial Update provided to Senior Management and checking data for accuracy, which requires great attention to detail. In addition, this associate will review the Quarterly Whiteboard presentation, staying on top of current topics relating to our competitors and creating ad hoc presentations for Senior Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and develop second year FLDP associate

  • Collaborate with Finance partners in U.S. Businesses (PGIM, Retirement, Group Insurance, Annuities, Individual Life and Assurance IQ), Global Portfolio Management, Investor Relations, Corporate P&A, and other various Finance areas within Prudential

  • Monthly Financial Update Responsibilities

    • Develop guidance for the U.S. Businesses to align Senior Management's needs to the information they will be receiving monthly

    • Work closely with the FLDP associate to create a shell for the U.S. Businesses presentation; PowerPoint shell and consolidated file are prepared and historical numbers reviewed in advance of receiving business unit information

    • Delegate work to team members; have a calendar detailing deliverables and responsibilities to meet the final deadline in delivering the presentation to the U.S. Businesses COO

    • Diligent and detailed confirmation of the Monthly Financial Update to the Quarterly Financial Supplement (QFS), Business Unit Presentations, Results Review and Corporate Reporting

    • Work closely with the businesses on any inconsistencies or questions to ensure our presentation and business unit presentations are accurate and concise

  • Quarterly Preparation Materials

    • Prepare materials to help prepare U.S. Businesses COO for the earnings call

    • Assist in compiling anticipatory earnings call questions and providing responses to U.S. Businesses COO

    • Maintain the U.S. Businesses database that houses all historical information in one central location; all team members utilize this database for any Senior Management presentations to ensure consistency

  • Various Presentations

    • Assist with building Investor Day & Board presentations

    • Various ELT presentations

  • Other adhoc presentations



Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or business related fields
  • 3 - 5 years of accounting / financial analysis experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to foster and build relationships across multiple departments
  • Superior analytical skills and financial modeling experience
  • Self motivated and proactive, with attention to detail, due dates and deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing, and challenging environment
