Evaluates and manages assigned caseload of Integrated FMLA and Short Term Disability claims. Interacts with internal and external customers including, but not limited to, claimants, employers, physicians, attorneys etc., to gather the information to make the decision on the claim. Provides technical direction to other claims personnel as needed. Validates payment period, follows up and monitors payment accuracy and timeliness; follows plan to closure.

About the position
Prudential Group Insurance is seeking a Team Lead for the Short Term Disability and Absence claim department.
Leading a team of Short Term Disability (STD) and Absence (ABS) claim professionals including determination and payment authorization of claims.
Coaching, supervising and managing performance of employees (both technical performance and behaviors).
Providing guidance to subordinates regarding general claim policy, contracts, and terminology.
Partnering with peer leadership group and contributing to the department's success by engaging in continuous improvement.
Reviewing complex claim cases, influencing and interacting with professional clinical and vocational resources.
Communicating with clients, state insurance departments and other internal and external areas.
Has both technical and administrative responsibilities.
Bachelor Degree preferred but not required
Demonstrated leadership skills a must
Supervisory experience preferred, but not required
Prior experience with Claim Management processes preferred
Understanding of Absence, STD and/or LTD product lines with experience of at least five plus years in absence/disability claim organization preferred
Ability to problem solve independently
Strong communication (verbal and written) and time management skills required
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel required
Strong critical thinking, mathematical, problem solving, decision making & analytical skills are desired
Detail oriented with solid interpersonal skills
Demonstrated strong Customer Service skills
