Retirement Modeling Research and Testing – Modeling COE Position
Actuarial – Newark, NJ
This position is in the Retirement Research and Testing section of the Actuarial Modeling Center of Excellence (COE), a centrally organized modeling team promoting best practices and process improvements through collaboration and talent mobility. The Retirement Research and Testing team is responsible for research of user modeling needs, proof of concept development, and model testing in Polysystems, GGY AXIS, and other possible platforms. The team will also interface with users to provide consultative services for these models. The Modeling COE associate will work closely with associates from the business units, the Valuation COE, and other Modeling COE sections. This function will enforce consistent system design and best practices across all models, mitigating and arbitrating issues and risks for model development.
The individual will have the opportunity to develop skills in GGY AXIS, Polysystems, Visual Basic for Applications, advanced MS Excel, advanced MS Access, SQL, and C# during the process of research and testing of Prudential’s actuarial models. Any experience in aforementioned areas will be a plus. The individual should also possess advanced quantitative and analytical skills resulting in ability to solve complicated business and/or actuarial problems and should be able to communicate technical concepts to a wide range of audiences. Strong communication, documentation, and testing skills are desired.
• Bachelor's degree is required
• Must have at least 2 years of experience in the field of actuarial science
• Actuarial exam progression a strong plus (3+ exams desired)
• Experience in valuation model development, implementation and/or validation is a plus
• Experience with GGY AXIS or Polysystems is a plus
• Knowledge of life insurance, annuity and retirement products is a plus
• Knowledge of software packages used in business communication such as MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint is desired
• Programming skills and experience (VBA, SQL, C#) is a plus
• Solid oral and written communication skills
