About the position
This product position focuses on Accidental Death & Dismemberment, Business Travel Accident and Special Risk solutions. Conducts competitive product and pricing analysis, analyze and monitor market trends, and may assist in product line positioning and new product development. In addition to using externally available market research data, may conduct and/or commission original market research. Independently initiates and/or leads marketing programs, initiatives, promotions, or research projects. Works on the most complex projects or with the most visible/important insurance products.
Understanding the features and product positioning of competing products in the industry, growth opportunities, competitive threats, regulatory issues, customer and consumer perceptions impacting the product in order to develop and refine product management strategies. Includes review of internal and external research, studies, and surveys.
Maintaining internal support of the product, which includes recommending periodic changes to contracts, marketing materials, proposal responses, and product training material.
Participating in cross-functional projects related to product changes or enhancements.
Monitoring operational and financial metrics to understand, and in some cases affect, the product financial results. May include review of expense allocations, product pricing, sales metrics, and post mortems.
Participating in decision-making process with respect to administrative errors and product remediation issues in close coordination with Distribution, Legal, Operations, Contracts, and other internal functions.
Cross-training on other products and lending support to other products on an as-needed basis.
If applicable, supervising one or more directs reports, including objective setting, performance management, coaching, development and training.
· BS/BA required.
· 5-7 years experience in a product, underwriting, marketing position. 3-5 in Accidental Death & Dismemberment, Business Travel Accident and/or Special Risk products.
· Project management skills a plus.
· Working knowledge of competitors and client expectations/needs. Experience in working in product management lifecycle process is desired.
· Must understand or learn insurance concepts, preference is experience and exposure to group insurance products (life, disability, voluntary). Prior knowledge of competitors and client expectations/needs is a plus.
· May interact with clients depending on skill and experience. Likely to work with vendor partners.
