As a Senior Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing training solutions that meet the learning requirements of multiple audiences in the Individual Solutions Group. The Senior Instructional Designer will consult with subject matter experts on the design and development of all training, creating content to be implemented through various mediums and delivery vehicles, including mobile devices. The incumbent will have strong business knowledge of the financial services industry and demonstrate and integrate this knowledge in all work product.
The specific responsibilities include:
Design, develop, and author highly effective, results driven curriculum to support the learning and development needs of internal and external life insurance business clients; ability to develop compelling collateral materials.
Engage/collaborate with appropriate stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to conduct needs analysis; identifying the knowledge, skills, and abilities gaps of a targeted audience as well as the population characteristics to determine a best course of address.
Partner with other areas of the organization such as Sales and Distribution, Marketing, Product Management, Investment Management, Advanced Planning, etc. to ensure consistency of message.
Research/identify appropriate delivery approaches/media/methodologies (e.g., ILT, eLearning, video, telephony, as well as device specific usage recommendations).
Leverage highly developed technical skills in curriculum development to build powerful eLearning's, podcasts, videos, and webinar training content, exhibiting strong graphical design acumen.
Support the online learning strategy for the business, including the continued development of the intranet utility utilized to disseminate training. Work independently to meet deadlines while coordinating with and soliciting input on materials from subject matter experts; develop relationships and work with the subject matter experts to validate course design and content.
Use assessment tools & solicited feedback to provide recommendations for updating & improving content, delivery methods& overall training program effectiveness.
Keep informed of new training methods, techniques of competitors, and pending information of new company products and strategies to ensure current and effective learning curriculum.
Utilize project management skills to define and meet project milestones, communicate issues and risks in a timely manner, and escalate to senior management as necessary.
Research, benchmark and propose curriculum to meet current and future business needs of a sales-driven culture and work environment. Stay current with industry trends, information and new and emerging practices and technology.
Obtain stakeholder and SME approval/sign-off of training materials (following review cycles), and make needed revisions based on stakeholder feedback.
5 to 7+ years Financial Services experience required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
Prior Sales Training experience is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
5 to 7 years hands-on content development (within the financial services industry a plus)
Expert level command of common authoring tools and course development methodologies (Microsoft PowerPoint, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, InDesign, et al)
Advanced ability to develop video and audio files (using Adobe Premiere Elements, Adobe Audition, iMovie, Garage Band) and expand use of these technologies
Design and development experience for Flash, HTML and mobile devices a plus
Demonstrated flare and keen eye for design and use of graphic elements to create engaging training products
Deep working knowledge of adult learning theory and teaching techniques
Familiarity with a wide array of training concepts, practices and procedures
Attention to detail and follow-through critical
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence laterally and vertically
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and peers to deliver business results
Solid problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/cases simultaneously and juggle multiple (and potentially conflicting) priorities
FINRA Series 6 or 7 and Series 63 required or must be obtained within 180 days of hire
Travel may be required 10% of the time
