Product Management - Hartford, CT Director - Investment Platform Strategy

About the position

Prudential Retirement provides financial wellness solutions, including investments and recordkeeping, for the Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit, Non-Qualified and Individual markets. Currently our client base includes 3,500 corporate, governmental, non-profit and Taft Hartley plan sponsors and more than 4.2 million individuals.
This new role will be fully accountable for development of an integrated view of investment platform capabilities for Prudential Retirement, including establishing investments strategy and roadmap for the business, and management of the overall platform P&L function. The new platform strategy will require a strong and influential business leader to effectively implement and integrate platform solutions across the entire business system.   This role will partner directly with other leaders within the organization, including sales, strategic relationships, delivery, pricing and underwriting functions to optimally position Prudential’s investment platform to clients and prospects.
In addition, this new role will be responsible for integration of affiliated and non-affiliated products and solutions into retirement’s distribution framework.   Affiliated product providers include PGIM, Pru Trust, and insurance/guaranteed investments packaged by PRIAC/PICA. Further, this leader will be accountable for development and delivery of custom investment solutions for non-standard cases, oversight of fund partner relationships, and certain critical vendor oversight functions.
This role will oversee a team of 5-10 investment professionals responsible for all platform management and servicing functions. Investment platform covers approximately $250 billion in assets under administration and includes retail mutual funds, registered and unregistered insurance company separate accounts, stable value, collective investment trusts, exchange traded funds, asset allocation (risk based) funds, target date funds, and retirement income products. This new position will report to the VP, Investment Platform Solutions within the Retirement’s Full-Service Solutions Product and Business Management organization. FINRA series 7/24 is required.  
Key responsibilities and functions include:
  • Development of an integrated investment platform strategy
  • Management of investment platform access policies & governance functions (Investment Availability/Sourcing)
  • Driving product sourcing, pricing and integration strategies for affiliated and non-affiliated investment manufactures
  • Influencing change – both externally with key market constituents including advisors, clients, product manufacturers and distributors, and internally by shaping strategies to for new revenue generation across the business system in collaboration with priorities of full service P&L segments (DC, DB, NQ, Retail)
  • Accountability for investment platform P&L and third-party contractual relationships including negotiation of revenue share and expense reimbursement arrangements (Integration and Access)
  • Management of custom client investment solutions (Product Development/Mgmt.)
  • Management of centralized RFP investment content (Platform Positioning)
  • Management and coordination of operational/legal/communications (internal & external) related activities stemming from investment menu changes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of retirement services industry experience. Excellent understanding of investment products and services in the context of record-keeping business.
  • Deep financial, quantitative and analytical acumen, including experience investment solutions delivery and risk management.
  • Deep understanding of applicable regulatory and compliance environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and managing effective business controls processes and risk-management culture.
  • Relentless focus on delivering exceptional client experience while optimizing business results.
  • Experience in effectively engaging with clients, advisors and third parties and driving optimal business outcomes.
  • Courage to take intelligent risks, and a proven ability to be a catalyst of decision making within the larger organization.

  • FINRA series 7 and 24 required, to be obtained within 120 days of employment.
