Prudential Retirement’s Business Finance Organization is seeking a highly analytical, strategy oriented individual for the Director of Business Finance. This role is responsible for leading cost management, forecasting, reporting and strategic analysis for Prudential Retirement’s Full Service Solutions business. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that supports leaders in their day-to-day and long-term decision making. The individual in this role will partner with leaders across the Business and Finance to strategically manage initiatives related to driving efficiency, growth, and profitability.
The Director of Business Finance reports to the Vice President & Business Finance Officer of Full Service Retirement. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the strategic direction and financial management of the business. The primary responsibilities of the job are:
  • Developing exceptional reporting and analysis of Full Service Retirement’s direct and allocated costs, including leading the budgeting and planning process.
  • Delivering insightful analysis and recommendations to transform Prudential Retirement’s cost structure
  • Leading benchmarking analysis and developing external relationships to identify and implement best practices in cost management
  • Participating in strategic initiatives such as: pricing implementation, client profitability, market and segment assessments, partnership evaluations, and M&A, etc.
  • Identifying potential technology solutions, in concert with Finance Transformation team, to automate and institutionalize activity based costing framework
  • Influencing cost management governance
  • Leading a staff of 2 or more associates


The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Highly motivated and creative problem solver; strategic thinker on financial management issues
  • Astute financial acumen, knowledge of activity based costing, cost drivers, and cost management
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Collaborative and team-oriented leadership style; able to work independently to drive results while building relationships throughout the business
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills; ability to communicate results and influence at senior management level
  • Advanced Excel skills with demonstrated ability to navigate complex data sets.
